Buffalo 2, Syracuse 6: Bisons Drop Final Home Game

The Buffalo Bisons didn’t give the fans much to cheer about on the last home game of the season. The Herd dropped the game 6-2 to the Syracuse Chiefs.

The fifth inning started the Bisons offense for the night. A double with a runner on second pushed the run across. However, some luck was involved. Runner Danny Dorn should have been thrown out, as the ball beat him to home by a mile. Luckily the Syracuse catcher bobbled the throw and allowed the run to cross.

In the sixth the Bisons defense got the play at the plate correct. With a Syracuse run threatening to cross, centerfielder Melky Mesa threw a perfect ball home and was met with a perfect tag. The play kept the game at 1-0 Bisons.

Unfortunately in the seventh Syracuse countered. They plated two runs on two very close plays at home plate. The inning gave the Chiefs a 2-1 lead over Buffalo.

Syracuse tacked on another four runs in the eighth inning. A bases loaded, bases clearing double capped off the big Syracuse inning, securing a 6-1 lead in the game.

The Bisons put another run on the board in the eighth inning, but it would not be enough to overcome the lead. The team finished its year at Coca Cola Field with a 6-2 loss.

Mascot Race

Celery had her chance, as she almost always does. She was winning all the way, but was distracted by a New England Patriots fan. The block allowed Chicken Wing to cross the finish line with the victory. Chicken Wing wins the season with 23 victories. Atomic Wing tallied 22 and Bleu Cheese finished with 21. As for Celery…still zero.
