Buffalo 1, Syracuse 3: Bisons Bats Go Quiet

It was a relatively quiet night for the Buffalo Bisons just a night after defeating the Syracuse Chiefs 9-0. The team today fell 3-1 to the same opponent in the second of a three game series.

Syracuse struck first in the fifth inning with a single run. But, the real damage came in the sixth with a two run home run. The ball ended up in the Bully Hill seating area and gave the Chiefs a 3-0 lead.

The Bisons threatened in the eighth inning. They moved runners to second and third with a great sacrifice bunt. Munenori Kawasaki pushed a run across with his groundout to shortstop, recording the second out of the inning. The third was made when Andy Burns grounded out hard towards first base. He left a runner on third base, keeping the Bisons down 3-1.

In the ninth the Chiefs put runners on first and second with only one out. However, a nice double play by the Bisons worked out of the jam and into the bottom of the inning.

The Bisons drove some balls hard in the bottom of the ninth but couldn’t muster any more offense. They fell to the Chiefs 3-1.

Buffalo and Syracuse meet again tomorrow at Coca Cola Field for the rubber match of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.

Mascot Race

On Bleu Cheese Day it only seemed fitting that Bleu Cheese would win the mascot race. If you thought that you were in the majority, and you were with me. If you thought that, you were also dead wrong. Atomic Wing spoiled the day, sneaking by for a win. Bleu Cheese was left stunned and the crowd silenced. If you’re asking for my opinion on the race: Blasphemy and collusion.
