Buffalo 4, Rochester 2: The Mascots Raced, Celery Lost

The Bisons’ offense woke up a bit from their first outing of the day, putting up 4 runs in a 4-2 victory over the Rochester Red Wings.

Though Rochester struck first in the third with two runs, the Bisons didn’t hesitate to respond. In the bottom of the same inning Buffalo put up four runs of its own. The Herd even batted around in the inning. Nothing outside of that third inning would matter. The Bisons carried that 4-2 lead, turning it into a W and a split on the doubleheader.

The highlight of the night, other than the Bisons victory, of course, was the WCC Mascot Race. Details of the bout are below:

 Mascot Race

Celery led the entire race, and by a lot. That is until she decided to pose for pictures ten feet before the finish line. The premature celebration caused a hard collision between Celery and Chicken Wing, sending Celery into the home dugout and Chicken Wing to the finish line. The players on the top step of the Bisons’ dugout had to clear just to avoid their own wipeout.

Chicken Wing’s victory ends Atomic Wing’s winning streak at four races. Atomic Wing still leads on the season, however, with nine victories to Chicken Wing’s eight. Bleu Cheese has six wins and Celery remains winless.
