Bisons Drop Season Opener

With the snow melting and temperature shifting it was finally time for baseball in Buffalo yesterday afternoon. The Bisons tipped off their season against the upstate rival Rochester Red Wings. New Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan was along for the ride, throwing some heat for the first pitch of the season. Unfortunately, the Bisons fell to the Red Wings 6-3, but not without making noise and showing promise.

Ezequiel Carrera went 1-2 with a double and a walk. Caleb Gindl also drew two walks on the day. The Bisons drew eight walks total, displaying their patience at the plate.

Ultimately, the Bisons could not overcome their fourth inning 3-1 deficit. The Red Wings tacked on another run in the fifth and two more in the ninth for insurance.

Buffalo left nine runners on base and went 2-11 with runners in scoring position.

The Herd takes on Rochester again this afternoon at 2:05 p.m. Scott Copeland takes the ball for the Bisons in the backend of this two game home stand.
