Jaguars 34, Bills 31: THR's 2-Point Conversion

The Herd Report's editors put down their tissues for a moment to offer their two points on the Bills' first foray across the pond.  Speaking of ponds, we're going to need more tissues.

  1. I have major issues with how the QB situation was handled over the past month. If there was ever a time to pull a QB, this game was it. Yet, Josh Johnson was completely unprepared to play in an NFL football game.  It makes you wonder what would have happened had EJ gotten hurt on one of those ridiculous roll outs to the left...
  2. Re-evaluate on defense. Despite EJ's performance, the offensive game plan was good enough to put points on the board and win. The run defense is getting worse and the missed tackles are becoming a large cause of concern and are keeping opponents on the field.  Additionally, the Bills can't contain a QB in the pocket and it's leading to big plays against.

  1. My thoughts during the 3rd quarter were of only anger, annoyance, dissapointment.  It's a feeling that Bills' fans find way too familiar from previous seasons.  In the middle of the season I think many fans, including myself, are afraid that history could repeat itself.  Hope in September, disappointment in October, frustration in November, disgust in December. Injuries are a factor, but still it is important to remember just how much this team has been overhauled in the past year talent wise.  It seems what is needed most now is an adjustment in how that talent gets utilized.
  2. My thoughts during the middle of the 4th quarter were of disbelief to what my eyes were seeing. The comeback was incredible. The 2 point conversion! The Pick Six Touchdown! I don't know how they did it but they did. For a moment in time, a brief moment, EJ Manual became the QB we all have wanted him to be. As for my thoughts at the end of the 4th quarter -- see my first point.  On a sidenote: I liked the Yahoo Livestream and watching NFL football in the morning. This must be what it feels like to live and watch football in California.

  1. I can't help but laugh. Everything about this game was hilarious. But then again, maybe I'm just laughing so I don't cry.
  2. Has there ever been a quarterback whose performance depends so heavily on his confidence?  EJ literally looks like two different people depending on the series. Sometimes he's comfortable in the pocket, stepping up, avoiding pressure. Other times he looks like he's a few seconds away from a nervous breakdown and you can't help but feel a little bad for him. I truly think he can be a good quarterback but today he didn't help my case.

  1. Thank goodness for the bye week.  Bills fans need a break from the heartache, and I think it will give the Bills' organization time to re-assess what we're looking at going forward. This was a devastating loss and a game we should have won. That's been the thought for the past few games now.
  2. EJ still looks shakey. The defense had some life throughout the whole game, but like we're used to, the offense couldn't commit to scoring points when we needed to. Manuel still can't make smart decisions on clutch plays and can't read a field, which is why he was picked off so much.

  1. 3-4 at the bye?  The season is over as far as I am concerned.  We've dug too deep of a hole.
  2. That pass interference call and the missed hold on Hughes... awful.
