Huge Surprise As Bills Trim Roster To 53

There was one major surprise as the Bills shortened their roster down to the League required 53 man limit.

Doug Marrone continued to make us wonder, like the many times I have described before, and this one would relate to cutting Landon Cohen.

Cohen was having a stellar preseason and everyone was feeling like had a roster spot.

Cohen was originally drafted by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round in 2008. He has played on many teams since then with stops in Jacksonville, New England, Seattle, New England again, and Arizona.

He had not played since 2011.

During this preseason with the Bills, Cohen seemed reborn. His play was awesome as he made impactful plays each game. Why the Bills at the very least did not place him on the practice squad is a major question.

Cohen was of course not going to be out there long and as of this writing Dallas is close to signing him. They will be stronger for it.

Brian Moorman

There were no other surprises, especially with Punter Brian Moorman being let go as expected. Moorman will go down as one of our best punters but it was time to say goodbye.

Quarterback Jordan Palmer was really not given much of a chance with only being able to have a few days of practice before having to play most of the game against the Lions. But he was so awful that they immediately replaced him with Kyle Orton and that would be it for him.

Receiver T.J. Graham had a chance with his kick returning capabilities, but it was a longshot with all the talented receivers the Bills have this year.

Jeff Tuel seems to be a player that Buffalo cannot get rid of as he was cut but then brought back to be on our practice squad. Why? He is less that average as we have seen throughout the last two years and brings nothing to the table from my perspective.

Here are the players that are no longer members of the Bills:
LB Xavius Boyd
DT Landon Cohen
TE Dominique Jones
CB Kamaal Mcllwain
CB Sam Miller
P Brian Moorman
QB Joran Palmer
FB Evan Rodriquez
WR Naaman Roosevelt
OL Jared Wheeler
OL Antoine McClain
OL Doug Legursky
WR T.J. Graham

The Following players were placed on the Bills Practice Squad:
S Deon Broomfield
LB Jimmy Gaines
WR Celeb Holley
DL Ike Igbinosun
DE Bryan Johnson
S Kenny Ladler
QB Jeff Tuel

So now the roster is set and after what seems like a very long preseason, we can finally see what we really have with our beloved Bills!
