Facing off against the Knighthawks in the semi-final playoff round, the Bandits won the first game in Buffalo 12-8, having to hit the road for Rochester to play the second. The Knighthawks dominated the second quarter, taking a 10-5 lead at the half. The lead proved to be too much for the Bandits to come back from as they fell 13-8 at the final buzzer. With the semi-final series tied a game apiece, a ten minute mini game was needed. With the season on line, neither team would give in. The mini game ended in a 1-1 tie, forcing a 15-minute sudden death overtime. It was then that the Bandits’ season was finished, allowing a goal less than two minutes into the overtime. With the win, the Rochester Knighthawks advance to the NLL finals.

Though the Bandits’ season has concluded earlier than they would have liked, disappointment does not stand as the lasting memory of the 2014 campaign. The Bandits began their season red hot, going 5-1 out of the gates. Though they were faced with adversity in their lengthy losing streak, the team was able to bounce back come playoff time. When the team had the Buffalo sport spotlight, they did not disappoint, defeating Rochester in the first game and spreading optimism throughout many sport fan circles. With Buffalo sport optimism often seeming scarce, the 2014 Bandits brought a nice surprise.

The overtime end to the season was certainly not ideal, though the preceding success is certainly something to hang a hat, or crazy orange wig on, rather.
